The tech giant has given a 10-episode series order to “Little Voice,” a half-hour project executive produced by J.J. Abrams, Grammy and Tony nominee Sara Bareilles, and “I Am Sam” director Jessie Nelson, an individual with knowledge of the production tells TheWrap.

A love letter to the diverse musicality of New York, “Little Voice” explores the universal journey of finding your authentic voice in your early 20s. Bareilles who is hosting the upcoming Tony Awards with Josh Groban, will provide original music for the fresh, intensely romantic tale of the search to find your true voice… and then the courage to use it.

Nelson (who worked with Bareilles on the Broadway musical “Waitress”) will be the showrunner for the series, as well as penning the script and directing the first episode.

“Little Voice” hails from Abrams’ Bad Robot Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television. Abrams, Bareilles, Nelson and Ben Stephenson (“Westworld”) will executive produce.

The series joins the tech company’s lineup of originals, including three from Reese Witherspoon, Steven Spielberg’s “Amazing Stories,” Ron Moore’s space drama, the drama “See” from Steven Knight and Francis Lawrence, and the docuseries “Home” from Matt Tyrnauer and Matthew Weaver.
